First on my list .... a GPS for both of my children (don't worry they never read any of my blogs...remember they're teens).
Chase is like me and he does okay. Brooke ..... she has no since of direction. I don't know how she can be my child and be like that :) I'm joking of course but seriously I don't think any of us Kennedy's ever get lost. (After saying that.... watch me get lost.)
So.... my question is do you own a GPS and do you like it? And why do you like it? the model number? would you buy it for your child?
I've had a bad experience with one ...will share that later ...... and I really want to make sure I don't get my children one that won't send them off to space :)

We bought our daughter a Garmin two Christmases ago and we love it. The only trouble we have ever had with it was when we were visiting Boston. It would just not work in the city for some reason. Maybe there were no satellites in the area? I have no idea. It worked everywhere else we went in Massachusetts, just not in Boston.
Whichever model of any GPS you use, make sure you update the maps at least once a year so that you stay up to date and out of danger!
Sorry, I won't be much help. My GPS is on my phone. I think the app is Google Maps. It's worked really well for me. If your kids have cell phones you can check into going that way for them. The funny thing is I just got cell phones yesterday for my kids for Christmas. LOL Great minds think alike.
I don't usually shop that early, but I was in the Verizon store about something different, and I asked them about adding the kids to our plan. It ended up saving me $10 changing our plan and adding them.
We also have a Garmin and it works good! We call her Matilda, 3 other family members also call the Garmin by the same name. We bought our kid's Garmin's too. They need to be updated to keep the maps current. They are easy to use too. My iPad also works great with Google Maps but no voice telling you where to go. I am not sure if the iPad2 has talking Google Maps?
I live and breathe by my GPS.. I have zero sense of direction! I also have a Garmin and I love it. I also use the GPS on my Iphone as it will show me where the traffic is and how congested it is - (which is very important in the DFW area!)
Side note - When we moved from Austin, Tx to DFW I didn't change the address saved under the "Go home" option. A few days after we moved here I took a 3 hour detour on my home from Walmart which is only a few minutes away. Oh yes..Fun times!
Hi Angie, My Garmin just died and my husband just got me a megellan at costco and they are on special for 129.00 good deal and they have a bigger screen then my old one. I love it. I have prayed for you that all would go well for you. My husband found a spot on my arm and told me to have it checked well it turned out to be cancer. I had surgery on my arm on Wednesday my arm looks awful. I will hear the results next week. Pray that they got it all. Hugs to you. Darlene
Hi Angie,We have a TOM TOM. We love it. Three years ago, my daughter moved from NJ to Michigan. Her and I packed up her car, drove 600 miles never been there before. It was wonderful. I have a Garmin and love it. I even took it to Europe with me and used it in Italy, Switzerland and Austria and it worked great. My friend borrowed it and used it in Hungary and Romania and they loved it. I had to download the Eurpoe map but it was so worth it when we got over there. Sherry
Hi Angie, We have a Garmin and it's wonderful. I'd give you the model number, but that model has been discontinued, so it wouldn't help. A short story: Yesterday, DH and I were out, pretty far from home where we'd never been before. I offered to take him to Dairy Queen for a Blizzard (his favorite!). He smiled and asked how we would find one. I told him "Jill" (what we call our unit) knows where the nearest DQ is, and will tell us how to get there. He was pretty skeptical and a little amazed when I tapped a few buttons and we were on our way. Lunch was good, and I was good and didn't have a Blizzard, but Jim thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Then when we were done, I just pressed "home," and we were on our way. Love it!
