Christmas shopping

I know it sounds crazy ..... but since I'm restricted to taking it easy I thought I'd start my Christmas shopping.

First on my list .... a GPS for both of my children (don't worry they never read any of my blogs...remember they're teens).
Chase is like me and he does okay.  Brooke ..... she has no since of direction.  I don't know how she can be my child and be like that :)  I'm joking of course but seriously I don't think any of us Kennedy's ever get lost.  (After saying that.... watch me get lost.)

So.... my question is do you own a GPS and do you like it?  And why do you like it?  the model number?  would you buy it for your child?

I've had a bad experience with one ...will share that later ...... and I really want to make sure I don't get my children one that won't send them off to space :)

See ya!

iChic n Scratch

I can't believe I'm doing it ....but I am.

I started a new blog called iChic n Scratch.

Here's the profile picture I posted on my Facebook Fan Page.  Click here if you'd like to go there ....but a bit of a warning ...that site is mainly about electronics, ipad, iphone, macbook, domain mapping...etc.  If none of that interests you ...you can skip it ....no hard feelings.

So ....this new site came about ...like this.....

I was in my childrens orthodontics office waiting (twice in one week) and one of my friends came in and we started chatting about the ipad.  And she said "I've been wanting to ask you what are your favorite apps?" Well...that's all it took  ...I was on a roll showing her all my favorites.  Thinking about it now I probably drove the rest of the people in the lobby crazy ....but what can I say?

I love electronics ...probably as much as stamping ......I know scary thought. But to be honest I think I could just say "when I like something I love it".

When my friends (& some family) have a technical question ...they come to me.  Five years ago I couldn't figure out how to use itunes and now I'm giving advice and running an online business.  How awesome is that?

Click here if you'd like to go to my iChic n Scratch Facebook Page.

ipad & Skype

Oh my gosh!!!
I love to learn something new!!
Today I learned not only how to use Skype but also how to use it on my ipad.
I actually had a chat and a phone call .....on my ipad :)

Important thing to remember you can make a phone call on your ipad by making a call from computer to computer.  If you enter a phone number you'll need to pay.

As an example, you can chat with me..... my screen name is chicnscratch or you can call my computer.  I love all this new technology!!

Now for the hardest part.....family of mine...sign up for a free Skype account...it's very easy and I can walk you through it if you need help.

Now for a laugh....remember a few months back when people were poking fun at using the ipad as a phone...they were holding this big device to their ear?  Well I did it today and you don't have to hold it to you ear.  You just hold it up :)

I'm not sure if it makes a difference but I'm using the wifi + 3G ipad.

See ya!

Caribbean Cruise & ipad

We're headed to the Caribbean compliments of Stampin' Up!
We're super excited and will need the vacation after the week we've spent getting ready to go!!

No cell phones & no internet for a week....how will I survive?

Update on the ipad .... when I get back I have more info to share with you.   I've had a few people ask...which one did I buy.  I got the one in the middle.  Not the cheapest and not the most expensive.

And....I am in love with the apps!!  I downloaded the Kindle app this weekend and now I have all my Kindle books on my ipad....as well as my ibooks.   I love all this stuff!  Dave said I should just go work at Apple (would they hire me?).

Did I tell you about how he keeps telling me he's going to get me a belt clip or something to go around my neck to hold my ipad?  what a hoot!!  That thing is too heavy for either....but maybe for Halloween I might do it :)
I've wanted to make a ipad clutch or bag like my Kindle clutch but I've been so busy lately I haven't had a chance.   Maybe when I get back from vacation.

See ya in a week or so......

my ipad

Every day I've been tracking my ipad and it shows it's in Kentucky right now :)  I get chill bumps just typing it!!

But I'm a tad scared.....when the news said we may have storms tomorrow all I could think was oh no please don't let it delay the plane or the truck that has my ipad.

If you've read The Secret .....repeat after me "Angie's ipad will arrive safely on Saturday April 3rd (preferrably in the morning)".  Now say that a hundred times :)

Okay, don't let this scare you but since we're on the subject of "The Secret".  I say "it doesn't hurt to try it".  Some have said the book is full of whatever.....and I'm not sure how I feel.  I do believe in the power of prayer and those that know me well know how spiritual I am.   But, what if there was a little truth to "the Secret"?  That all it took is you believing you could do something?

I say ..... try it :)  I told my sister a year ago to try it. I think she forgot.  But I'll share this with you.

Since I have crazy luck (not calling it bad because sometimes is crazy in a good way) I tend to think negative, but I want so badly to be positive so I surround myself with motivation books, CDs & tapes. I listen to everything I can to keep me straight.

Two years ago I was a struggling Stampin' Up! demonstrator....go back even further to three years ago and I was very close to quitting. I won't go into all the details of why but let's just say I tried everything and it just wasn't working.
But, things changed....I started my blog, online ordering began, I started asking for sales, I started sharing my goals, I started believing in myself and I said to everyone I'm going to try to be in the top 10 of the company.  Now, why would I think that ....when the previous year I wasn't even in the top 100?   That just might be the ticket......it's all in how you think?

Give it a try and let me know.   But here's the thing you can't pretend.  Read the book or watch the movie.  You have to believe it can happen for it to happen.
I'll tell you ...just like I told Kim.  What does it hurt to try?

See ya,
p.s. Last year I was #5 Demonstrator of the Year, # 4 in sales and # 1 for Senior Associate promotions.   What's my goal for this year?  .....repeat for sure!!!

ipad

Happy birthday to me :)
I just ordered the ipad.
I'm counting the days until it arrives.
And I probably won't be able to sleep on April 2nd
knowing it will arrive on April 3rd.
Now I just pray that Fed Ex delivers in my area on Saturdays!!

See ya!

ipad versus Kindle

I seriously can't stop thinking about the ipad.

If I could buy it today, I would.
I'm going to explain my way of thinking......

I'm a person that loves technology!!  we are who we are :)
I've wanted the iphone since the day it came out..... but my cell phone company doesn't have it :(

I bought the itouch and I love it but public wifi is limited.  Notice how I said wifi?   Does that answer your question on which ipad I'll be getting?  As much as I want the brand new ipad in 60 days....I'll be holding out for the Wi-Fi + 3G version.

reminder ...this is my way of thinking :)

Will the ipad replace my Kindle?
Don't think so.
Why?
The ipad is a whole media package....movies, email, internet, music, ibooks, photos & Calendar.   (You should watch interview with Steve Jobs & Bill Gates on You Tube in 2007, it's a 12 part video & it's very interesting!!)

Back to my point....the Kindle is just an e reader (I know...... it can do other things but who really uses those features).  I like how simple it is.... it's almost like holding a book.... just thinner (no, I don't miss the smell of books).

Why am I going to buy the ipad?
I support all of the apple products!
I still can't believe I said a few years ago that I was too old to make a computer change.
Scary to think I may have never experienced all this amazing technology.

Back to why I'm going to buy it.... or I should say what are the features that excite me the most :)
The Calendar looks just like what I've been looking for, here's a picture of it....
I love how it's larger...as we get older, larger print is better!!!

Next is the email feature

I love my Macbook but the weight of it restricts where I can take it and what purse can hold it.
Here's an example......going to the doctor or dentist office.... the ipad will be the perfect size to take in my purse....just like my Kindle (I never go anywhere without it).

As much as I like my current cell phone....it's small and it's slow. I don't complain because I'm just happy I can google anywhere I go but to be honest I want more!!

If you're considering the ipad versus the Kindle and want to chat I'd be happy to share more of my views....long story short.  I will own both :)

See ya :)

p.s. I have a thing for phrases & I wanted to share something that Steve Jobs said on one of his interviews.  I love it because it applies to my business!
Here's his words (but maybe not exactly)  "You need to have passion for what you're doing because it's so hard ....any rational person would give up." "If you don't love what you do, you're going to give up."

Kindle

I just have to share my latest & greatest!!  Have you heard of the Amazon Kindle?  If not, please google it :) I could go on & on for hours about it ...but googling it will give you all the details you need.

If you read like myself...anywhere from 3 to 5 books a week and you usually purchase those books....you need the Kindle!!

We are trying to weed out the extras in our house and Dave continues to remind me that I need to scale back my books...I was faced with a dilemma!  But, how can I give away my books....especially when I can re read them 4 or 5 years later?

So, the answer to that is the Amazon Kindle.  It can hold up to 1500 books and here's a picture of it...
So far I've read five books on it and I love it!!
Gotta run ....busy day ahead :)
