Miss Bella is five months old today

Miss Bella is five months old today .... 22 weeks old tomorrow.
Someone ask me when I'm going to stop counting the weeks and I said "I'm not sure .... I guess when it starts to sound crazy".

I took a bunch of pictures of her today ...here's a few .....

This one was taken after she chewed up her hair brush ... We call this her guilty look.
If you look real close you can see her piece of carrot under her foot :)

Doesn't she look like a stuffed animal?

Bella was determined to get the hair brush from Brooke!!

Out on the deck ...... she loves being outside!

Tired from all the running around.

I took a bunch more .... but I'll stop here.

See ya later!

Miss Bella and her first hair cut

Here's a before picture with the groomer at The Pet Ranch.

She looks a little shaggy ...but adorable!
I wonder ....am I the first to ask .... if I can take a picture?
It was her first hair cut .....I had to have it for the scrapbook.
Here's some after pictures........

Remind me ... start using my real camera and take some better pictures!! My iPhone takes great pictures ...when you're not chasing a puppy around.

And .....the last picture is blurry ...but I had to share it ....her tongue is sticking out :)

I'll share a little secret ....all these pictures were taken with me holding her attention with Blueberries.....she LOVES them (me too). I give her around 8 to 10 a day.

I like her better with the longer hair ....but it's important that she get used to being groomed.

She was so exhausted afterwards that she and I took a nap.....when I woke up she was asleep on Dave's pillow ....don't tell him :)

See ya!

Heading home

These pictures were taken at the airport ...in our car.

Brooke is holding her and she's looking at me.

Giving Brooke kisses. (I was so jealous!)

I got so distracted that when I left the airport I got on the wrong interstate.
I was sooo lost that I had to pull over and google map my way home. I was seriously lost ....and I NEVER get lost.

P.S. if you're one of mine or Bella's Facebook friends .....all this is old news ....we're catching everybody up.

Must love dogs

Here we go .....
This is the very first picture of Miss Bella .....

I know ...not the best but I was in mom mode and my baby was starving after the plane ride.

We're lucky we had food in the car. The minute I brought her out if the airport she tried to eat a leaf so I figured I better give her a little snack.

Brooke

I just have to share this with you all!  Brooke brought her portfolio into my room last night and when she brought out her self portrait I about flipped.  I had no idea she wasn't capable of this.

Chase is really good at drawing machinery and cartoons .... and Brooke has always been a great photographer and photo manipulator  (photoshop).  But I had no idea she was good at drawing faces.   I know that sounds funny but I remember my mother always being able to draw nature but she couldn't do faces.  But maybe Brooke has a knack for it?

I know it's been a while since I posted .... I've been spending all my time working (trying to get caught up) and spending time with Bella.   I LOVE her so much!  The smiles and laughter is just what I needed to get me out of that funk I was in!!

I think I may have enough pictures of her to fill up a Scrapbook already ....but no time for that!  Brooke starts college in the fall and we're sorta freaking out about how to afford both kids in college.

Gotta run ... need to take Miss Bella outside :)

Miss Bella

Are you ready for the whole story?
Here it goes .....

On Halloween night I was here alone passing out candy...and I'm usually okay being alone but for some reason it just got to me.  I brought a chair out on the porch to pass out the candy so I could visit with the kids a little easier  .....and during the slow times I was on Facebook (using my iPad).

One of my friends had posted a darling picture of her dog in a Halloween costume and it started the water works.  It made me think of my Fluffy and Sissy and I couldn't shake the sadness.  So, I turned off my lights ... got my laptop and spent the next few hours looking at dogs online.

I found a cool website that allowed to you enter what you wanted in a dog and then it would make suggestions.  The King Charles Cavalier Spaniel was the 1# choice for our house.  Cocker Spaniel was another ...along with a Bichon Frise.

I kept looking ...because I wasn't a fan of having dog hair in the house ....and preferred a non shedding dog (we have horrible allergies ... Brooke & I and Dave is allergic to cats).

I then put the puppy search on the back burner ... decided now was not the time for a new pet.
Until .... I was looking out the front door and saw my neighbor with a dog that look like a Bichon Frise (that's what Fluffy and Sissy were) except it was half white and half black.  It was so stinkin cute I had to go over and pet it ...and then I had to ask "what kind of dog is it" and she said it's a mix breed ...a Bichon and something.  It was one of her friends and she was dog sitting it.

That's it ...the trigger that started it all ....I couldn't get to my house fast enough ....I wanted to Google King Charles Cavalier Spaniel mix breed.  As soon as I did the Cavachon came up.  They are half King Charles Cavalier and half Bichon Frise and I spent the next three hours looking for a Cavachon to adopt on Pet Finder.  And I found a few but they were not going to be a good match for our home.

I then decided to google Cavachon in the state of Kansas ... or a Breeder in Iowa (not that far from here).  I never found a breeder in either state but I found some in  ..... Washington, Tennessee, Ohio and a few other.   I choose Tennessee because it's my home and I just felt at ease.

Some of my friends were concerned about:
  1. I was buying a puppy I had never met.
  2. How did I know I could trust the breeder?
  3. She's too little to fly on a plane.
So, my answers were:
  1. I too have an online business and I sell to people that don't know me ...but they trust me.
  2. I spoke with the breeder and it just felt right.  Also ..how could I resist Bella ...she is sooo beautiful!
  3. I'd rather take a chance of her flying ...than buy another dog that would result in me being told she'll never live past three or four years old.  When you go through an experience like that ...it forces you to look at other options.  I felt this time I had to do a better at finding a good breeder.   Now after saying all that it makes me sound like I wish I had never had Fluffy & Sissy ....and that's not the case.  I loved them with all of my heart. I just want to have a healthy dog for once in my life!!  If it doesn't work out ...then at least I can say I did everything I could.
After I talked to the breeder I told her to pray for me ...it was my 20th anniversary and this puppy was what I wanted....but I had to convince my husband.

That was the hardest because I told everyone I was never having another dog...and I meant it.   So, it's natural that Dave would want to protect me and say NO.  But .... when it was time to go to the Jewelry store to pick out a new ring ...I said no .... I wanted the puppy.

As you can see I won .... he gave in :)

After we paid for Bella I was a little worried about the potty training and all the work.  But I think God knows this year almost did me in and it was time for some good things to happen.

Bella has slept through the night every night and she goes potty every time I take her outside.  She has been the best experience I've ever had with a new pet and I love her soooo much!  She's just what the doctor ordered!!!

Stay tuned ...
p.s. I hope you all like animals .... this blog may turn into a blog about Miss Bella.

More puppy stuff :)

It's no secret I'm a little OCD at times ...but I'll warn you I'm going overboard.  Still can't sleep.  Had to transfer my body to the sofa last night so my hubby could get some sleep ..... I  read a few chapters of my book to redirect my thoughts from puppy back to sleep.

I keep thinking about her name .... how she'll do on the plane ... will she like us ... how can I keep her from getting other dog germs ....  and will she miss her brothers and sisters a lot.  In other words I'm a worry wort!!!

We still can't decide a name ....I really like Bella ...but Dave says no.  Chase wants to name her Jigglypuff (one of our favorite pokemon characters from way back).  Dave wants to name her Muffin so he can call her Pumpkin Muffin (one of Brooke's favorite food items).   And Brooke likes Lily & Lady.

Hopefully when we see her darling face a name will jump out at us.  I'd even be happy calling her "Darling" ....but can you see my husband outside yelling "come on darling"?

I think I may be leaning toward Lily.... but when I was growing up we had a goat named Pickle Lily and her baby we named Little Lily.

See ya!
p.s. I almost forgot the most important thing .... or maybe I already said this ... as soon as we name her ....I'm creating her Facebook page.  If you're not a fan of Facebook I'll still post pictures here but her Facebook page is going to have it all ... milestones and everything.  (I already warned you I was going overboard...I thought about her own blog ...but Facebook is really easy.)
